Frequently Asked Questions

HOW DO I GET STARTED WITH YOU?

The first step is to call or email with what you are looking for as far as services. Most inquiries will fall under a service listed on our website, but we are happy to accommodate you if you don't see what you are looking for. Don't be afraid to ask! Following the initial inquiry, we will set up a free consultation for us to come by, meet the family and pet(s), and learn the pet's routine and anything else you would like us to keep up with regarding your home (closing blinds, mail, plants, etc). Necessary paperwork will be emailed to you before this meeting, ready for us at this consultation. We also ask that you have two keys copies ready for us at this visit so we can test them and have them ready for when you need us. There will be a $10 key pick up charge for additional trips to pick up keys. You can chose to have your keys returned after your service period or to allow us to keep them on file for the next time (also convenient if anything last minute comes up or you get locked out). That way, the next time you need pet care help, all you will need to do is contact the office with your trip/travel details and we will be ready to go!

WHEN SHOULD I MAKE MY RESERVATION? WHAT KIND OF CHARGES ARE INVOLVED WITH LATE SCHEDULING/CANCELING?

Ideally, as soon as you know what you need! However, we know that things change and that things do come up last second sometimes. Last minute scheduling or changes (cancellations, added visits, etc) are subject to additional charges and there is no guarantee that your "usual" sitter will be available. Visits that are canceled with less than 12 hours notice are subject to 25% of the total scheduled service fee. Quick Break visits that are canceled on the day of will be charged 50% of the service fee. If we arrive at your home and the pet is gone or are then notified that a visit is not needed, client will be charged the full amount. Last minute visits are available for when you are stuck at the office, etc and need someone to come by and walk and/or feed your pet last minute. Charges for this service range from $25-$30 depending on the time of requested visit and how much "heads up" we have. If you return early without notifying us, you may be charged for visits for that day.

WILL I GET THE SAME SITTER EACH TIME?

We know that clients and sitters like consistency and we try our best to have the same sitter available to you whenever you need service. However, we do like to have a "back-up" sitter familiar with you and your pets in the chance that your usual sitter has an emergency or is unavailable. Booking ahead will help assure that you are already on your personal sitter’s schedule. In the case that they are unavailable, arrangements can be made to meet with an available sitter that best meets you and your pet’s needs.

HOW ARE PAYMENTS HANDLED?

We accept credit card (VISA, Mastercard, AMEX, and Discover) and checks. For Quick Break clients and those who utilize services on a regular basis, the work week goes from Monday to Sunday so invoices are totaled for the following week’s services. Invoices can be emailed or left by your walker. Clients who are leaving for vacation or traveling can leave payment for sitter at their first visit or pay by credit card. If you choose to pay by check your payments can be mailed to the office or left for your sitter and checks should be made out to Pet Care Plus and addressed to Pet Care Plus, 301 W Platt #248, Tampa, FL 33606.

HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOUR SITTER HAS COMPLETED THE VISIT?

It is our policy to leave a note at each visit. Notes document everything accomplished during each visit, including feedings, anything that happened on our walks, pet’s behavior, etc in addition to anything else we may have noticed. We provide a notebook for pets we see on a regular basis and clients are encouraged to write back with any comments, concerns or suggestions. Sitters are required to mark all sits as completed on their online calendar as well.

WHAT AREAS TO DO YOU PROVIDE SERVICES TO?

We provide services to all of the South Tampa area, from Port Tampa to the Downtown District (including Davis Island, Harbour Island, Channelside and Ybor City). We also have clients in Rocky Point and parts of Seminole Heights. If you are in a surrounding neighborhood and wish to utilize services, let us know and we may be able to make arrangements.
